The main objective of PDS Zanzibar is JOBS CREATION. We want to become a center for skills development, innovation and jobs creation in Zanzibar, and in Africa at large in the future.
In order to achieve this goal, we empower the local people living in the rural areas of Zanzibar by providing skills and access to additional
education opportunities. We target particularly women and the youth because they are the most impacted by unemployment issues.
Our strategic objectives: Our Focus Areas:
- Economic Empowerment & Poverty Alleviation: Alleviate rural poverty through micro-entrepreneurship, practical trade skills, and green job creation.
- Inclusive Education & Capacity Building: Operate the PDS Charity School and Vocational Training Center to deliver tuition-free primary, digital, and technical education.
- Child Welfare & Vulnerable Group Support: Provide residential care, nutrition, healthcare, and educational access to orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).
- Health & Social Welfare: Organize free health camps, hygiene distribution drives, and public health education across rural Shehias.
- Global Partnerships & Exchange: Foster cross-cultural exchange through international volunteer camps, strategic partnerships, and resource sharing.
- Education & Skills Development (ESD): Free early childhood care, foreign language instruction for the tourism sector, and digital literacy.
- Youth & Women Empowerment: Practical trade courses (tailoring, baking, beauty artistry, soap making) paired with business start-up support.
- Child Welfare & Community Well-being: Residential shelter, health camps (e.g., KUSINI Smile Camp), and child protection initiatives.
- Environmental Sustainability: Plastic processing, community sanitation (Safisha Kusini Unguja), and organic agriculture.
- To emphasize the importance of learning foreign languages in today’s global job market.
