The main objective of PDS Zanzibar is JOBS CREATION. We want to become a center for skills development and jobs creation in Zanzibar, and in Africa at large in the future. Indeed, unemployment is one of the main problems in Zanzibar, where all the other issues come from, including poverty. We believe that reducing unemployment is the key to reduce poverty. We seek a world of hope, tolerance and social justice where poverty has been overcome and all people live with self-respect.
In order to achieve this goal, we empower the local people living in the rural areas of Zanzibar by providing skills and access to additional
education opportunities. We target particularly women and the youth because they are the most impacted by unemployment issues.
PDS has also other secondary objectives which come out of the main one:
- To prevent or relief poverty
- Youth empowerment
- Women empowerment
- To provide free additional education and skills
- To create small businesses
- To establish microfinance institution to support small businesses
- To prepare the students and young unemployed people for work. PDS provides them with additional skills needed for their professional career by organizing practical trainings and workshops.
- To boost the quality of life of orphans and vulnerable children by creating a good environment for them and giving them a place to spend their free time.
- To collaborate with other individuals (volunteers) and organizations by exchanging ideas, knowledge and resources.
- To organize international meetings, conferences and camps with people and volunteers from all over the world as a part of knowledge and experience exchange.
- To emphasize the importance of learning foreign languages in today’s global job market.
