PDS Organic Garden

PDS Organic Garden, developed by PDS Organization as part of its sustainable village activities, is dedicated to promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development in Central District, Zanzibar. With environmental awareness and access to effective waste-management systems, recycling facilities, and sustainable practices still developing across Zanzibar, the PDS team aims to introduce practical, eco-friendly solutions that can benefit both local communities and the environment.

The Organic Garden serves as a demonstration of how sustainable farming can contribute to food security, environmental protection, and improved livelihoods. The project promotes organic farming methods, including the responsible use of natural fertilizers, composting, water conservation, soil improvement, and the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other useful crops without relying heavily on harmful chemical inputs.

An important part of the initiative is turning organic waste into a valuable resource. Through composting and other environmentally friendly practices, agricultural and household organic waste can be transformed into natural fertilizer for the garden. This helps reduce unnecessary waste while improving soil fertility and creating a practical example of the principles of a circular economy.
